we can make more than pizza

here is a quick delicious meal to impress that special someone.
medium heat a pan with olive oil. take your chicken breast and season (with fresh ground pepper) the side you are about to put down. as it is cooking on the pan, take garlic powder and sprinkle it on top of the breast along with more pepper. When its looking ready (3mins or so) flip it and add garlic powder to the other side.

while this is taking place also on medium heat place sliced potatoes and olive oil in pan. sprinkle with garlic powder, add chopped red onion, and oregano. pan fry and stir until potatoes start to get slightly burned on the edges.

and the last thing, take whole length asparagus and pan fry again with olive oil, and pepper. Cut the a small piece of lemon and squeeze juices onto asparagus. Dice lemon peel and add to asparagus' while they are cooking for added flavor. Pan fry until they start to get crisp.

place asparagus on plate with chicken breast on top and potatoes to the side. Serve with white wine or a lucky extra.

p.s. we got halfway through the meal before we remembered to take a photo. ha.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese Sauce

If you have seen the commercial for this I definitely recommend making it one night. If you haven't Philadelphia Cream Cheese is running one of their heavenly commercials giving a spin to their product we all love. Its super simple, and will empress your guests or your cat.

1) Take a wad of philly cream cheese, use your judgement in regards to how much pasta you are using, I don't have a measurement, this is a lifestyle blog not a cooking blog although we will have lots of dope recipes

2) Warm up a sauce pan and add your wad

3) Season it, I used oregano and a splash of olive oil

4) Add your already boiled and drained noodles of your desire (mine were whole wheat incase you think it looks weird in the photo) to the melting wad of cream cheese.

5) Stir until the wad is sauce and on all the noodles.

6) I had a vinaigrette and feta salad to compliment, along with a lucky extra.

enjoy!

Mr. Rogers

Coming across this video through the randomness of the internet, I've come to a conclusion: This man, Mr. Rogers, was memorable through many a childhood television experience, in that we all wanted to have our own toy kingdom with its own moving tram system in our basement, or the way that the clown puppet invariably scared the shit out of us every time we later closed our eyes for our afternoon nap. Yet for all of this, the fact remains; in spite of every dirty joke or humorous misintepretation we had at his expense, he had a truly pure heart. It may seem eccentric in the tumultuous times, but none the less, the man had a good thing going.
Furthermore, as you can tell from this video, he probably had the most money granted to him in U.S. Congress in relation to the complete absence of hot-headed arguments and deliberate deciet. Maybe things would be better in these crazy economic times if companies said please when asking for money, rather than going with the "if you don't, it will only get worse" approach. With the manners of Mr. Rogers under their collective belts in the U.S., it might well be a more beautiful day in all our neighbourhoods.

Bonterra Incredible!

Not so long ago my girlfriend and I celebrated a 2 year milestone. Although both students we saved our milk money for a couple months and decided to spend some bucks on a really nice dinner. We made reservations for Bonterra which is on 8th st SW right before Mountain Equipment Co-Op. The service was awesome, the wine amazing, and the food fantastic. The menu as you can probably guess from the title is traditional Italian down to every last detail. We definitely recommend it, so if you are like us, save a bit off a few pay checks and treat yourself. It's worth it!

easy pizza

The other night we made a delicious pizza. Although one day I'd like to, I didn't toss my own dough, but fairly inexpensively you can pick some up, and the rest is up to you.

We started by pan-frying some chicken breast, seasoned it with garlic and tabasco, as the chicken was finishing we added chopped red onion, red peppers, and asparagus, with a dash of olive oil and let it simmer on low heat while we coated the dough with a pesto sauce.

We then took everything from the pan and spread it over the dough, sliced a fresh tomato and dispersed it out across the top of the pizza, graded some Canadian cheddar and put it in the oven.

The oven was set to 400degrees and we just kept our eye on it until everything looked good, about 10mins or so I would say, not an exact science.

Serve with salad and an ice cold Steamwhistle!

Philip Glass

being a student of ACAD we are given a lot of cool opportunities, for instance earlier this semester I was given the chance to listen to Philip Glass speak about his career as a musician, very inspirational man. What I enjoyed most about meeting him and listening to him talk is he is just a dude. A lot of people become famous and have a 'better than you' attitude, but not Philip Glass. He was just another dude. Extremely talented, but just a dude.

update on Art Thief

Police say on January 31st during the supper rush at O is when the artwork went missing. They recently released video footage of who they believe is the suspect. This is the first time I have had anything substantial stolen which has quickly escalated with coverage throughout the media.

The video footage ran on Global TV's 6:00p and 11:00p news on Friday.

It also ran in today's calgary herald.
